Authorities arrested a Crestline woman early Wednesday morning at Loma Linda University Medical Center. Law enforcement believes the woman was driving under the influence when she was in a rollover injury car accident on Highway 18 in the San Bernardino Mountains at 11:25 last Tuesday night.

The California Highway Patrol says that a person called 911 before the accident, apparently to report erratic driving conduct of a driver in the San Bernardino Mountains. Police say that the caller characterized the situation as a "possible DUI driver." Law enforcement believes the caller was referring to the woman now accused of being involved in a drunk driving wreck.

The CHP claims that the 47-year-old woman was weaving in and out of traffic on Highway 18 late Tuesday evening. A written statement from the CHP claims that the Crestline woman was unable to handle a curve in the road, just south of upper Waterman Canyon. Authorities say the woman swerved into oncoming traffic while attempting to negotiate the curve and her car clipped the left side of a Honda driven by a 59-year-old Twin Peaks man.

Police say that the Honda rolled over in the crash. Both drivers were taken to the hospital.

California law provides strict consequences for any DUI conviction. However, when police claim that a driver has been in an alcohol or drug-related car accident involving personal injury, the stakes become much higher.

News reports do not indicate what level of offense the woman will be facing in relation to the recent allegations in the San Bernardino Mountains; however, bail has reportedly been set at $100,000 in the case. California law allows prosecutors to seek felony DUI charges if the driver's alleged DUI conduct causes an injury to a third party.
